There are two scenes in RotK that I find particularly interesting. The scenes mirror and invert each other as the story progresses. First scene [beginning of RotK. Sam claims he's not hungry, leastways not for lembas bread] Sam: "You go ahead and eat that, Mr. Frodo. I've rationed it. There should be enough." Frodo: "For what?" Sam: "The journey home." Second scene [Mordor. Frodo is drinking the last of what's left of Sam's water.] Frodo: "There'll be none left for the return journey." Sam: "I don't think there's going to be a return journey, Mr. Frodo." To hear a thing like that from Sam really frightens me. I get the feeling he's about to give up. (Just as Frodo was having a glimpse of optimism!) How ironic is that.

Yes, I noticed that too. It's quite emotional.

Yes this is a very great part....! It's very emotional that Sam is losing hope....it's a sad but still fascinating moment there... And it's so sad I think the whole part is very strong there... like "I can't carry the ring for you...but I can carry you". Or after the ring is destroyed when Sam cries about Rosie and Frodo says "I'm glad you're with me...here at the end of all things..." And one more that is very sad: "Do you remember the taste of strawberries?" And Frodo answers no...

I noticed this too. This is the part of the movie where the waterworks started coming (first viewing).......but that is a whole 'nother story.

Awwww. Yeah, he is.
"I wonder if we'll ever be put into songs or tales."
"What?"
"I wonder if people will ever say, let's hear about Frodo and the Ring. Yes, that's one of my favorite stories. Frodo was brave, wasn't he dad? Yes my boy, one of the most famoustest of Hobbits, and that's sayin a lot."
"Well, you've left out one of the chief characters- Samwise the Brave."
"Now Mr.Frodo, you shouldn't make fun; I was being serious."
"So was I."
"Samwise the Brave."
Sorry, got ino it there. Probably isn't completely accurate.
