We loves country music (Yeehaw!) and every once in a while we would come across a song that reminds us of LotR. Here's one. ;D I Can Only Love You Like A Man (by T. Adkins)
From the time you were a baby You had this notion in your head Someone would come along and sweep you off your feet Like in all those storybooks you read Well if you’re lookin` for salvation Like some damsel in distress Girl there ain’t no heroes on white horses At least I ain’t seen ’em yet
There ain’t no knights in shinin` armor There ain’t no nevernever land And I won’t ever walk on water I can only love you like a man
Now, heaven knows I’m no angel Just flesh and bone like all the rest I never claimed to have a halo All I can give you is my best But I will never try to hurt you Or even give you cause to doubt That my heart is yours forever Ain’t that what true love’s all about
There ain’t no knights in shinin` armor There ain’t no nevernever land And I won’t ever walk on water I can only love you like a man
No, I won’t ever walk on water I can only love you like a man.I couldn't help observing the contrast between the modern world and the world of Middle-earth. The age of heroes has passed. Very unfortunate for us Ringers.

That is a great song! You should submit it to Uruviel to make it into a music video!

I know the feeling... *doesn't bother hiding her LotR music vids* Alright, back to the topic. Here's yet another LotR-ish song. An old traditional/folk song in Finnish. On laiva valmiina lähtöön (composer: unknown)
Me kanssasi riemuita saimme ja katsella maailmaa. Monta ihmettä näytit sä meille, jotka nyt meitä lohduttaa saa.
Me tiedämme, että sä lähdet vain koska muuta et voi. Ja me toivomme, että nyt sulle pian taas laulu onnesta soi.If I didn't know this song was old (pre-LotR books period) I'd swear it was written for RotK. I'll translate the lyrics so you'll understand why.

Me too, that would be so much fun! I always find songs and a subject and dream of what the music vid would be like, lol.

hehehe *hides from finish which kinda looks like bilbo hand writing *roflmao* It's the alphabets, right? Ä, Å, Ö, ä, å, ö... Well, I can't blame you. Finnish language has more vowels than consonants. Very easy to pronounce, almost like singing or speaking Elvish. Having said that, I'll have to make a confession. Learning English was difficult for me. It seems like all the vowels are gone and I can't get my mind around all the consonants. For crying out loud, the word "strength" has SEVEN consonants in it! *rolls eyes in disbelief* We just say "voima" or "lujuus" and be done with it.

yeah its the Ä, Å, Ö, ä, å, ö lol more vowels? *faints* Oh, it would take too long to explain everything. Let's just say there are nine short vowels (a, e, i, o, u, y, å, ä, ö), eight long vowels (aa, ee, ii, oo, uu, yy, ää, öö) and lots of diphthongs (ai, ae, ea, au, ei, eo, eu, oi, ia, iu, ui, uo, yö, öy, äi, öi, etc...). The difference between single and double vowels is distinctive; for example "sataa" and "sata" are completely different words, both in pronounciation and meaning. In spoken Finnish, final vowels of some words are often dropped out, for example "kaksi" often becomes "kaks". In some cases, the last consonant is dropped, too. "Kolme" becomes "kol". In extreme cases, almost half of the letters can be discarded. For example "sinä" becomes "sä", and "minä" becomes "mä". To me, this language makes perfect sense and it's SO natural. Very easy to speak, and read, and write. But for a foreigner.... He may learn how to read and write Finnish but I assure you he will NEVER be able to pronounce all the words properly.

Sorry about that. I guess it happens a lot and I really can't blame you. Finnish is a strange language and no one in his right mind would study it. Well, perhaps Tolkien... I heard he based Quenya on Finnish to an extent. Speaking of which.... I wonder if Tolkien knew about the Finnish word "sisu". Here's the definition: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sisu and another one... en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Sisu"Determination regardless of cost". I think that about says it. When I think of Hobbits, I see them as persons who had lots of sisu. Even more than Finns do.
