Let's post our favourite LotR songs and poems. ;D
My favourites are.... From the movies: Pippin's song (the one he sang for Denethor in RotK)
From the books: Bilbo's song (or was it a poem?) that he wrote in Rivendell. I can't remember all of it, just the last few verses....
"For still there are so many things that I have never seen: in every wood in every spring there is a different green.
I sit beside the fire and think of people long ago, and people who will see a world that I shall never know.
But all the while I sit and think of times there were before, I listen for returning feet and voices at the door."

I wrote this poem myself. I'll enter it on a contest on A.U.:
Simbelmynë
The air, so drunken with silence, not a whisper nor a sigh... it is yet peaceful, where I walk, and where their sleep is king. Helpless is the time of wars, and memories of light and glory joined those who passed, so long ago.
Who might dare to sing, to walk, on a white carpet of stars; they are woven with hope, and consolation. And yet, there are no words, for the endlessness and grief, both in place and heart. Thoughts return to them, who are lost, so often.
The mind it opens to eternity, and the soul it wanders home, where green fields are, of stars, covering the heads like crowns. They tell of things they've seen, and heard from loved ones, for no grief and tear is lost, from the white stars of Rohan.

Wow Myra! That's really good! It seems like you would've really had to think about that to make it, but that could just be because I'm not good at writing poems.
