Well annemari showed off a correspondence scene with Frodo and Sam......I found something similar where the Hobbits sort of switch role.... Merry is usually the one who cares for pip, would you agree? Pip always does silly things and Merry has to pay attention... In RotK there is this one moment on the battlefield where pip finds merry. Merry asks "are you going to leave me?" Pip answers "No, I'm going to look after you".......

Awww... A touching scene that was. I'm glad you pointed it out for I had almost forgotten it. When you said that I went to thinking about another scene(s) that fit the same category. Remember FotR, when Sam was about to drown and Frodo reached for his hand? Now, when do we see that situation reversed? RotK, Mount Doom.... "Don't let go." Sam returned the favor. I always thought that was very sweet.

Annemari: Yeah...I never thought of it but I think it's very cool! Sam also repeats a line there "Don't you leave him Samwise Gamgee, and I don't mean to...." He says it already on the Farmer Maggots field....or am I wrong? The scene on the river is really cute....everytime they cry there I soooo want to hug them

In the end Frodo says: sam....I'm glad yer with me.... That's what he mentionnes too in RotK.....here at the end of all things Aww... I love that line. It's only fitting that Frodo should say a thing like that. He means it, of course (for he's going to DIE and that's one thing you don't want to experience alone!) but it's also a way of saying "Thank you, Sam, for sticking up with me, my weaknesses (mood swings, ring-induced fits)....."The two hobbits started on their long journey together and the fact that they're going to die together, too, makes it easier for me to accept.

frodo and sam dying... well thinking they will I honestly thought they would die! I hadn't read the book so I didn't know how the movie was going to end. I figured it would be more exciting that way. Exciting, indeed.... More like nerve-wracking. Frodo was my favourite (had been ever since FotR) and I was constantly worried about him dying. Watching RotK was a total nightmare. They had pulled the old "Oh my God, he's dead! *sniff*...... Oh, wait. He's still alive." thingy so many times I almost wished he WAS dead. That would bring an end to his suffering. Poor Frodo. After the scene at Mount Doom (the end of all things) I was positive he was dead. Suddenly the screen went black and I thought "Yeah, this is it. No more Frodo.". I felt empty, sad, and a little confused. The realization hadn't totally sunk in yet for me; had they just destroyed the bloody ring?! Couldn't believe it. The whole thing was kinda surreal.

They maybe used it too often...E.g. the one in moria is really useless But I never wished Frodo was dead! RotK is nerve-wracking (sp?) all the way fer me. Dunno why....

I don't think they used it too often, I just felt like Frodo had taken too much beating and he wouldn't recover anymore. Remember that look on his face just before Sam says "Don't let go.".... Well, at that moment I was sure he wanted to give up. I never wanted to see him dead (I love him, for god's sake) but there was a part of me that kept thinking perhaps he could be better off dead. I don't like to see him suffer, it breaks my heart.
